Capita is a consulting, transformation and digital services business. We’re driven by our purpose: to create better outcomes – for our employees, clients and customers, suppliers and partners, investors, and society. We’re committed to being a responsible business in how we operate, serve society, respect our people and the environment, and deliver attractive returns to our investors.
Every day we help millions of people, by delivering innovative solutions to transform and simplify the connections between businesses and customers, governments and citizens. We partner with clients and provide them with the insight and cutting-edge technologies that give time back, allowing them to focus on what they do best and making people’s lives easier and simpler.
We recognise that we have the opportunity to be a force for good, helping to address global challenges and making a positive contribution to society. That’s why we’re proud to have signed the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. We recognise the experience, insight and opinions that ex-service personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families can bring to our business. Your military expertise can also allow us to better understand the defence sector and to build new solutions tailored to the Armed Forces.
Working in the military offers you a wealth of transferrable skills which you can use when you leave. You could join us in anything from engineering to facilities management, project management to cyber security, IT development to networking and infrastructure, or you could use your experience to become a team leader or manager. Whatever your area of expertise, you’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned, bring your own unique perspective and help shape the future of our business.
Capita was one of the early signatories to the Corporate Covenant in 2014 the same year in which the company was awarded the Employer Recognition scheme Silver Award. In 2019 Jon Lewis, Capita’s chief executive, re-signed the Covenant as a demonstration of our continued commitment to being a Reserves supportive employer and in 2021 we were awarded the Employer Recognition Gold Award.
In addition to recording and supporting UK Armed Forces Reservists within our workforce, through formal HR policies, we also have a strong track record in recruiting from the ranks of both Service Veterans and Military Families. The Career Transition Partnership is the MOD’s pathway to civilian life and we’re actively engaged with CTP in the re-employment of service personnel, as well as more informally mentoring those in transition.
Capita also supports Service Charities and is a major sponsor of “Force Atlantic”, the Army’s entry into the 2019/20 Atlantic Challenge Rowing race completed in a remarkable 37 days 13 hours and 53 minutes.

Diversity & Inclusion at Capita
As a large organisation, we continue to invite fresh perspectives into our work, discover innovative ways to positively impact the world around us, and create better outcomes. We already have a range of employee networks that represent every strand of diversity, to provide a place for people to connect and learn from each other, which anybody can get involved in. These include the Family Network, the Ability Network, Rainbow Alliance (LGBTQ+), Embrace (Race and Ethnicity), Wellbeing Network, Gender Equality Network and the Multi-Faith Network. These networks are led by our colleagues and supported by our executive committee to drive change and conversation across the business, as well as to mark important events, from Black History Month to Pride. We’ve also partnered with The Youth Group to understand the most effective ways of supporting young people currently out of work, whether that’s through employment, internships, mentoring or career development training.
On top of that, we have a range of initiatives around training and development to support our colleagues, including specific support for ex-military, reverse mentoring, and different flexible working options. Our colleagues have access to Employee Assistance Programmes, a wellbeing hub, as well as trained Mental Health First Aiders and Wellbeing Champions. We’re part of the 30% Club, which offers mentoring for women to help increase female representation in senior leadership, and as a response to Black Lives Matter, we’ve committed to ensure at least 15% of our workforce at all levels (including 5% Black) are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
Disability Confident
Launched by the Department for Work and Pensions, Disability Confident is a scheme that’s designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions. As Level 2 Disability Confident Employers, we’re positive about the skills that people with disabilities can bring to our business.
Meet our people
Hear from Adrian, a former Royal Marine, and Phil, who previously worked as a Fire Officer in the Royal Air Force, about why and how they made the transition from military to civilian life. They share the support they’ve had from the teams they’ve joined and why they’re looking forward to getting stuck into their new roles at Capita.
Capita makes it very easy for you to be part of the team. It’s so rewarding.
