We believe the skills, capabilities and talents of our people are the key to our success. We benefit enormously from the diversity and variety of our workforce and are fully committed to maintaining and encouraging this diversity.

We integrate the Fairness, Inclusion, and Respect (FIR) framework into our operations, creating an inclusive work environment where everyone is treated with respect and fairness.

We work and partner with various groups and affiliations to give everybody equal opportunities.

Below are a few groups that we have recently partnered with:

Recruitment of ex-Military personnel

We have been actively working with BFRS (British Forces Re-Settlement Services) since 2015, attending 5 careers fairs per year as well as attending virtual job days. We also partner with RBLI and Frontfoot.  These relationships have resulted in the recruitment of more than 35 ex Military personnel and they are an integral part of the Group.  We are really excited to have JobOppo as our newest partner and hope to continue the success.

Recruitment of Returning Citizens

As part of our Social Value Strategy, we feel as a company employing returning citizens is the right thing to do, we want to help people who have engaged in past crimes to excel in our business and the wider society.

We have visited over 15 prisons in the last 12 months and these have been a mixture of men and women's prisons.

We have presented to over 400 prisoners on the benefits of working for the Group. We have interviewed approx. 75 prisoner's and offered 16 Returning Citizens a job from numerous prisons up and down the country.

We will continue to engage with returning citizens regarding future opportunities as it gives them a potential head start in joining the industry. We do this by working closely with Daruma to deliver TTMBC and T1/T2 Traffic Management courses within prisons.

Early Careers

Chevron part of the Ramudden Group have created an 'Apprenticeship Roadmap', which will see a focus on our mid-management and support employees through level 3, 4 and 5 Apprenticeship schemes. As Lantra qualifications are currently out-of-scope for Levy access, our initial focus is on increasing our skill-set of existing employees via access to work-based learning to increase knowledge in areas including Project Management, Operational Delivery, Learning & Development, HR Support, Business Administration and Customer Service.

We also visit schools and colleges to showcase Traffic Management to children of all ages. This includes attending careers fairs, conducting CV writing skills workshops and mock interviews as well as getting children involved in physical activity. We recently visited a primary school in Derby and to say the children were excited is an understatement.

Homeless

Sometimes we can take our life and privileges for granted. We don't always appreciate what we have and how lucky we are. Some may say these are choices but sometimes they can also be circumstances.

Chevron Traffic Management and Roocroft have recently been working with Room at the Inn, a homeless residential and day/ night centre in Warrington.  We have been supporting them and looking at how we can help and work with them. The employees who work here are so passionate and do an amazing job but sadly they don't always get the money or resource to do all the things that would help. This time last year they sadly lost one of their residents and wanted a memorial garden to celebrate and remember his life. We spent 3 days clearing the yard of rubbish, designing and building the memorial and then planting pots and plants to make it all look beautiful. We are looking at other ways to support them, such as employability skill courses and help with CV writing to support their residents back into work when they are ready.

We have also just partnered with another charity ‘Inspire Manchester’.  We sit on the board and are hoping to work alongside them in the fight against homelessness.

Disability Confident

We are proud to be disability confident and over the next year have a strategy, including work experience, work placements and shadowing of our roles.

We have a couple of months already in the calendar where 2 people are joining us to gain some work experience.  They will go into our head office and get exposure to the different departments within our business.

Social Value

In addition to the above, Social Value is also instrumental in our day to day activities.  We get involved in various projects to help local communities.  We have a Social Value Manager and a team of Social Value Champions at each of our depots to help push and promote this.  All employees get 2 days paid time to volunteer per year.
