St Joseph’s Specialist Trust is an independent non-maintained specialist school and college, registered children’s home with two local adult supported living houses nearby.
The St Joseph’s community consists of approximately 75 students at the school and college, 11 tenant residents at the Supported Living Houses who are supported by almost 270 staff. Our 22-acre site is situated on the outskirts of Cranleigh in the Surrey Hills.
We cater for young people aged 5-19 with complex and severe learning difficulties, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum and other associated difficulties.
Our provision uses an embedded therapies approach and focuses on access to the community for all, irrespective of their challenges. We are a Catholic provision with Christian principles at our core; welcoming students and staff of all faiths and none.
Marius McGarr joined us from the army 3 years ago as Deputy Estates & Facilities Manager:
“I served in the REME for 23 years and left the Army in 2019 as a Warrant Officer. I have worked at St Joseph’s as an Estates and Facilities Manager for 3 years and have fully enjoyed the experience. The skills that I attained during my service; like planning, coordination and communication, have allowed me to be successful in my role. St Joseph’s have a few veterans within in its working family which has not only made me feel welcome but helped with my transition from Military life.”
