I joined the Sea Cadets as a CFAV in 2017 and hold the position of Unit Chairperson, Bexley & Lewisham Sea Cadets. In this role I have responsibility for ensuring the appropriate governance of the Sea Cadet unit and compliance with charity law, Sea Cadet Policy and regulations.
One of the things that attracted me to the organisation is the opportunity for CFAV’s to progress and develop in their volunteering roles, providing them with transferrable skills and the opportunities to use these to benefit the wider community.

There is a real synergy between my volunteering and working at one of the busiest and successful NHS Trusts in the country. The vision and values of both the Sea Cadets and Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust are incredibly well aligned, with both organisations striving to help address the wider determinants of health and improve the life chances of young people with equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of its workforce, policy and cadet and patient experience.
