Mark has been Ageas UK Chief Information Officer for 4 years and is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology, including Digital and Data Management. He also leads the development and delivery of Ageas UK's IT strategy, ensuring the company's approach to current and future technology continuously evolves to meet ever changing business challenges and customer preferences.
Mark spent the first 22 years of his working life in the Royal Navy, joining as an apprentice at 17. Initially specialising in Weapons Engineering, he had a varied career spending time both at sea and ashore. After being commissioned, Mark’s last postings were at NATO and then at MOD, both roles giving great insight into working within large complex organisations. Since leaving the Navy, he spent 6 years at Vodafone ending his time there as Director of IT and strategy for a new initiative. He then moved on to spend five years as CIO for Vitality Insurance before taking up his role at Ageas.
“I am thoroughly enjoying my work at Ageas. The opportunity to shape how our insurance business is delivered, whilst leading the Technology Team is a real privilege. Building and developing great people is key to this and I am extremely proud of how well we bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, skills and capabilities to create an adaptable and inclusive workforce.”
“It can be quite daunting leaving the Armed Forces, but I would encourage those leaving to remember that they bring with them a wealth of training, transferable skills and experience that are incredibly valuable in the civilian workplace. Don’t be put off if you haven’t worked in a particular sector, if you are willing to learn and demonstrate the ability to adapt, then you are bound to succeed and have a great second career. “
